Supercutaneous plating: A case report of locking plate used as an external fixator

Introduction: Proximal and distal tibial fractures with a compromised soft tissue envelop still pose treatment dilemma or challenge for the orthopedic surgeon LCPs have advantages of angular stability from locking-head mechanism less irritation when compared traditional external fixators due to their low profiles. Here is poster case report same.Case Report: A 37-year-old male, flouriest, Badravathi who came Orthopedic OPD after he had met road traffic accident on 23rd November 2020 sustained injury left leg. Plain radiograph revealed fracture tibia fibula at proximal middle third junction. Arterial Doppler showed long segment poplitial artery thrombosis.As definitive patient underwent Open reduction plate fixation thromboembolectomy venous grafting done. The limb post-operative went into compartment syndrome emergency fasciotomy leg wasdone. Fasciotomy wound got infected hence Vacuum assisted closure was applied. same locking removed used as an fixator. External put patellar tendon bearing cast showing good signs union.Conclusion: For tibia, which are treated by using LCP safe reliable technique excellent functional outcomes. There high rate union minimal complications rate. Its also include ease performing surgery removing healing. Though use locked plates not generally acknowledged many surgeons it has become valuable modality in management.
